Late night host James Corden said he “very regretfully” made a rude comment to a host about the recent drama surrounding his alleged abusive behavior at a New York City restaurant Monday night.
The “Late Late Show” host started Monday by admitting why she’s been quiet about the drama for about a week and tends to avoid addressing the rumours.
“You know, I like to take a very British demeanor, you know, keep calm and move on. Something will be written about me,” Corden explained. “‘Never complain, never explain’ is my motto. But as my father pointed out to me on Saturday, he said, ‘Son, you complained, so you might have to explain.'”
Last week, restaurateur Keith McNally banned the comedian from upscale New York City restaurant Balthazar. McNally received detailed reports from his staff alleging that Corden verbally abused a server and made a fuss about the food they served him.

McNally described the comedian as a “little male Cretin” and said he was the “most malicious client” Balthazar hosts had encountered in 25 years.
At an outrageous incident, restaurant owner Corden “yells”[ed] Crazy on a server” because his wife’s egg yolk omelet had egg whites and when it was brought back to the table after being repaired, it was paired with home fries instead of a salad.
McNally said she apologized “profusely” after Corden’s post caught media attention, causing her to reverse the ban. But things soon turned upside down when Corden claimed to the New York Times that he had done nothing wrong “on any level”.
“Shouldn’t we all grow up a little on this one?” Corden asked the reporter. “I promise you, go around this restaurant. They don’t know that. Maybe 15% of people.” McNally urged Corden to “own” his behavior in another Instagram post.
But during a four-and-a-half-minute monologue on Monday night, the comedian revealed that his wife, Julia Carey, was served food she was allergic to. He also said that one incident happened recently, but another in 2014.

The “Cats” actor said, “Because the third time the food was wrong on the table, I made a sarcastic, rude comment about cooking it myself in the heat of the moment. And that’s a comment I deeply regret.”
“I understand the challenges of being a server. I’ve worked shifts at restaurants for years,” Corden said. “I have a lot of respect and value to anyone who does a job like this and the team at that restaurant is so great.”
Corden also tempered the mood by joking that critics hated the episode “Carpool Karaoke” and others were surprised that he was married to a woman.
“The restaurant manager and the server were very nice, very nice. They brought a glass of champagne to apologize, but we said, ‘It’s not necessary. We don’t need it.’ We had a great time. It was too early even for me to start drinking,” he joked. cordon

However, the comedian explained that he did not realize that his behavior was faulty as it was not violent or rude.
“Because I don’t yell, yell, get up from my seat, call no one, or use derogatory language, I keep walking around thinking I’m not doing anything wrong.” Corden reflected. “But the truth is… I made a rude, rude comment and it was wrong. It was an unnecessary comment. He was rude to the server.”

Corden concluded his monologue by admitting that he “had a good talk” with McNally about the incident, but the New York Times interview did not openly admit it. He said many times how much he loved Balthazar’s staff and said “accept it”.[s] everyone’s opinion” on the situation.

“I hope one day I’ll be allowed in again, so when I get back to New York I can go there and apologize in person, which is something I will definitely do,” Corden said.
