The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power reveals its list of female directors and confirms that the second season will be divided into eight episodes
Lord of the Rings fans got a glimpse of what to expect with the upcoming second season of prequel series The Rings of Power on Wednesday.
Amazon Studios has announced that the upcoming season will feature an impressive female directing team, according to Deadline.
Among the women helming the season will be Charlotte Brändström, who previously directed two episodes of the fantasy show’s debut season.
The announcement also clarified that The Rings Of Power – which received a Critics’ Choice Awards nomination this month for Best Supporting Actor – will have a second season that will run the same length as the first.

In addition to Brändström, the show is adding directors Sanaa Hamri and Louise Hooper, who are both new to the series.
Brändström is taking over as lead director for Wayne Che Yip’s season, and like him, she will direct four episodes this season.
The director previously directed the sixth episode of the first season, Udûn, which featured a massive battle scene and the eruption of Mount Doom, as well as its immediate follow-up episode, The Eye.
Brändström was also hired as a co-executive producer for the Lord of the Rings series.

She later directed The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants 2 and Just Wright, but has worked mostly in television in recent years, including producing and directing another Amazon fantasy series, The Wheel Of Time.
She and Brändström have master agreements with Amazon.
Hooper has worked in British television for decades, although he has recently landed top-notch directing gigs in episodes of The Sandman and The Witcher.
The two youngest directors will helm two episodes of The Rings Of Power.
