WWE legend ‘Hacksaw’ Jim Duggan revealed that he fought a domestic intruder before holding him at gunpoint with a .44 caliber pistol.

A man in his early 20s walked into Duggan’s South Carolina through the front door earlier this month, forcing the 68-year-old former professional wrestler to demonstrate that he is still a force to be reckoned with.

Duggan revealed the details of the incident during an interview with Wrestling Inc. last Friday, before posting on Twitter that he was grateful to the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department for their assistance.

Hacksaw wrestled in the WWE, then called the WWF, between 1987 and 1993 and played the role of the American patriot. His trademark in-ring weapon was a 2×4 piece of wood.

‘Thank God we didn’t shoot him,’ Duggan said of the episode for the wrestling publication.

Duggan was at home with his wife Debra, also 68, around 6:45 pm on Dec. 8 when the intruder entered their home.

When the man walked in, he and his wife heard others screaming in the neighborhood, he told Wrestling Inc. The man was reportedly ‘hysterically scared’ when Hacksaw successfully arrested him.

Once Duggan had the man on the ground, he said he used one hand to keep his hands behind his back and kept the gun in his lap until officers arrived.

The intruder told Duggan while he was being retrained that he entered his house because he was running away from people who were after him.

He also allegedly knocked on several neighbors’ doors before jumping over Duggan’s fence and entering the front door.

The retired fighter added that he heard more people outside and feared there would be more trouble, so he even turned off the Christmas lights and told the man to be silent.

In a statement on Twitter, Duggan thanked the Kershaw County Sheriff’s Department who attended the scene after they were called by his wife.

In the post, he said: ‘A man we had never seen before climbed our fence, ran across our yard to our front door and was banging on our glass doors.

‘Before we could get to the door, it opened and crashed into our house. I held him at gunpoint while Debra called 911. We are safe and unharmed.

Duggan was the first Royal Rumble winner in 1988 and was the first World Championship Wrestling Heavyweight Champion in the United States. He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011.

An especially legendary moment in his career occurred at Madison Square Garden in 1988 when he knocked out French fighter Andrew the Giant, who weighed around 520 pounds at the time.

Last year, the professional wrestler said he announced he was finally cancer-free after an ongoing battle.
